About Flycast
Flycast is a multi-platform emulator for Sega's Dreamcast console and related arcade hardware, including the NAOMI, NAOMI 2, and Atomiswave boards. It lets users load Dreamcast disc images and arcade ROM sets and play them on modern devices with higher resolutions and smoother performance than the original hardware allowed.
The project is free and open-source, developed by flyinghead together with a community of contributors and released under the GNU GPL. Builds are published openly for each supported platform, so anyone can inspect the code, report issues, or compile their own version.
Flycast focuses on accuracy and flexibility. It supports HD internal rendering, widescreen output, save states, per-game configuration, and a wide range of controllers, including gamepads, arcade sticks, and racing wheels. Network play and VMU emulation are also available for supported titles.
The emulator runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, making it one of the most portable Dreamcast emulators. It does not include games or BIOS files; users must supply their own legally obtained files, and no personal data is collected during play.
