About Hitomi Downloader
Hitomi Downloader is a desktop media downloader that retrieves images, videos, audio, and full galleries from a wide range of websites. It uses a task-based graphical interface where users paste links and queue downloads, and it supports batch jobs across hundreds of supported sources.
The project is free and open-source, created by KurtBestor and maintained on GitHub, where its script and plugin system are publicly available. Its extensibility lets the community add support for additional sites through downloadable scripts.
The Windows release (version 4.2) is the current build, distributed as a portable GUI package. A separate, community-maintained macOS build (version 4.1) is provided as a DMG by a fork. The app handles concurrent downloads, playlists, and site-specific extractors, and can be updated as supported sites change.
Hitomi Downloader runs locally without requiring an account, and it supports Windows 7 through Windows 11 as well as macOS via the community build. Because it interacts with many external sites, keeping the app updated helps maintain compatibility when those sites change their layouts.
