OBS-NDI (DistroAV)
OBS Studio Plugin
by DistroAV and contributors
OBS-NDI, now developed as DistroAV, adds NDI input and output to OBS Studio. It pulls NDI cameras and other computers into OBS as sources and pushes the program feed or any single scene back out over the network. Version 6.2.1 needs OBS Studio 31.1.1 or newer plus the NDI 6.3 runtime, and ships as installers for Windows, macOS and Linux.
About OBS-NDI (DistroAV)
OBS-NDI is the plugin that gives OBS Studio NDI support. NDI is a protocol for sending high-quality, low-latency video and audio over a normal Ethernet or Wi-Fi network, so a second PC, a phone running an NDI camera app or a hardware NDI camera shows up in OBS as a source without any capture card.
The plugin adds an NDI Source you can drop into any scene and an NDI Output that broadcasts the program feed. The NDI Filter goes further: attach it to a single source or scene and that element becomes its own NDI stream, which is how a two-PC streaming setup sends the game capture to a dedicated encoding machine.
The project was renamed DistroAV in 2024, and the 6.x releases target current OBS versions. It is released under GPL-2.0 with the source on GitHub. The NDI runtime itself is a separate free download from NDI.video and must be installed before the plugin loads.
Version 6.2.1 requires OBS Studio 31.1.1 or later. The Windows installer is a 3.2 MB .exe, the macOS build is a 2.4 MB universal .pkg for Apple Silicon and Intel, and Linux gets a .deb for x86_64. Package-manager installs through WinGet, Homebrew and Flatpak are also available for people who prefer them.
