RPCS3
Multi-platform
by RPCS3 Team and open-source contributors
RPCS3 is a free, open-source PlayStation 3 emulator for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Written in C++ under the GPL-2.0 license, it runs compatible PS3 games and homebrew from legally owned software using PPU and SPU recompilers, Vulkan rendering, and per-game configuration.
About RPCS3
RPCS3 is an open-source emulator that reproduces the hardware of Sony's PlayStation 3 on desktop computers. It allows users to run compatible PS3 games and homebrew software from their own legally obtained discs and packages, translating the console's Cell Broadband Engine and RSX graphics processor into instructions modern PCs can execute.
The project is free and released under the GNU GPL-2.0 license, with source code and builds published openly on GitHub. Development is driven by a large community of contributors, and separate per-platform binary repositories provide regularly updated builds for each supported system.
RPCS3 maintains a public game compatibility database that tracks titles as Playable, Ingame, Intro, or Loadable. It offers PPU and SPU recompilers, a Vulkan rendering backend with resolution scaling, per-game configuration, community patches, controller support for DualShock and DualSense pads, save states, and RPCN-based online play.
The emulator ships without any games, ROMs, firmware, or BIOS files, requiring users to supply their own. It runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS across x64 and ARM64 hardware, and it does not require accounts or collect personal data, keeping emulation local to the user's machine.
