Reference tones, low string to high string
Reference playback stops microphone listening. Microphone audio is analyzed on your device and is neither recorded nor uploaded by this tuner.
Tune one string at a time
Start microphone listening and allow your browser to use the input device. Mute the other strings, play an open string, and wait for a stable reading. Bring a flat note upward gradually; lower a sharp note before approaching the target again.
The large label identifies the note actually heard. The nearest open-string target is a separate guide, so check both the letter and octave. Standard six-string tuning runs E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 from thickest to thinnest.
When the reading jumps
A distorted amp, another instrument, or ringing neighboring strings can confuse pitch detection. Use a clean signal and move closer to the microphone. A brief unstable reading immediately after the pick attack is normal.
This tuner measures a single periodic pitch at a time. It does not evaluate a full chord or prove that the guitar is intonated correctly across its neck.
Reference pitch and browser access
Leave A4 at 440 Hz unless the musicians or recording you are playing with use another reference. Changing that value shifts every target together; it does not select a drop tuning.
A secure HTTPS connection is required for microphone access on the published site. The tone buttons also work without microphone permission. Stop listening when finished to release the input device.
